For a region that relies heavily on the movement of goods, having a reliable active transportation system benefits all. The Riverside-San Bernardino Metro Region has a multi-modal transportation system made up of freeways, public transportation, airports, and active transportation networks.

As the population increases, traffic congestion is projected to increase as well. Improved accessibility and transportation services will likely be necessary to meet the region’s projected population growth. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave a report card score of C to the IE region in eight categories, with local streets receiving a C- (CITE). Over the past 10 years, there has been increased investment in regional transportation. However, funding is needed to maintain the upgraded assets and potential infrastructure to improve local public transit for its constituents.
